Who Founded Pink Hope

Krystal Barter founded Pink Hope in 2009 after recovering from a preventive double mastectomy. Krystal is a young woman whose family has been affected by the BRCA1 gene fault for four generations. Krystal is a passionate young lady who dedicates her time and efforts to the PINK HOPE community.

Krystal created Pink Hope because she wanted a community that was for women like her. Pink Hope was created to be a place where high risk women could access support and information any time of the day or night. Since its inception, Krystal has had hundreds media interviews, spoken at over 70 events and has developed strong community ties.

Krystal has been recognised for her charity work and management and creation of Pink Hope. In 2012 She was a finalist for the Young Australian of the Year and NSW Woman of the Year, 2012 Finalist for Instyle Audi Women of Style Awards , in 2010, she was awarded Warringah Young Citizen of the Year and in 2011 and was also honoured with the title of Harpers Bazaar Woman of Influence.

Krystal is a confident and passionate young lady who continues to advocate for the 120,000 Australian women at a high risk of breast and ovarian cancer throughout Australia.

“Having experienced the isolation and lack of information for women like me first hand, I decided to be proactive about helping others. I made it my personal mission to support, inform, and inspire women at high risk of breast and ovarian cancer.”
– Krystal Barter

Krystal created Pink Hope because she wanted a community that was for women like her. Where they could access support and information any hour of the day or night. Krystal didn't want another women to experience a preventive mastectomy, BRCA diagnosis or strong family history without an ability to access a community like Pink Hope.

Pink Hope is here for high risk women to offer support and inspiration.

Krystal's Values and Beliefs about Pink Hope:
I created Pink Hope for the very reason that I didn't want another women to feel alone, like I did. Pink Hope will continue to grow and provide support and information to the many families around Australia who live with hereditary breast and ovarian cancer everyday. I have many Pink Hope resources and projects that I would like to implement. These will change the way high risk families gain the support, information and empowerment they need to be vigilant and proactive with their health.

I believe that Pink Hope will continue to be a valuable resource for high risk women. Give them the strength and support they need to face their risk of cancer head on. As I always say "knowledge is power, a gift" something many generations before us never had. Whatever proactive approach or option you choose to take on your journey, always remember Pink Hope is here to support you.
