Hi Everyone,

This months member of the month Kelly is a special lady who is supportive to the all the girls on the forum. Its one of my favourite things to do, send gorgeous gifts to wonderful ladies. It wouldnt be possible without the kind donations from of all the "product sponsors" like Pandora, Underwear of Sweden, Big Sky Publishing and NBCF. Any business who would like to contribute to this wonderful Pink Hope initative please email me krystal@pinkhope.org.au. "Member of the Month" truly celebrates the beauty and strength of these incredible women.

The "Member of the Month" is a great initative. It encourages women to gain the information and support they need from the Pink Hope Community. All of their stories express the great loss their family has experienced, what it was like to watch someone you love endure breast/ovarian cancer and come to realise they too are high risk.

I dont think I will ever forget the moment my mum was told she had breast cancer. She ran out of the bath to answer the phone still in her towel... she fell to floor saying "not again". My nan ran to my mums side and I you could hear my nans heart break. My nan had nursed her own mother dying of breast cancer while she was going through chemo. I dont think she ever thought she would watch her daughter experience our devestating "family curse".

Having my preventive double mastectomy was nothing in comparison to what my nan has endured in this lifetime.

7 weeks away from holding my baby girl. I thought my fear for her future would be an issue. Surprisingly call it mothers instinct, I know she will be ok.

The scientific advancements in prevention and treatment of family breast/ovarian cancer still astounds me just look at the recent research development from the NBCF research program at Walter and Eliza Hall Institute. In 25 years my daughters outcome will be completely different to my great grandmothers, my nans, my mums and even mine. If we keep focused on funding research by supporting NBCF Pink Ribbon initiatives, Pink Ribbon Breakfasts and Mothers Day Classic our daughters futures will be "bright".
