What Our Members Say

“The day I discovered Pink Hope, I felt like I had found my tribe. When I found out I carried the BRCA2 gene, my GP wasn’t able to offer any support, but thankfully my cancer centre mentioned Pink Hope. I reached out and was immediately connected with amazing women who were in the same situation. The support, information and education provided to me through Pink Hope was a game changer. I felt like I was supported through my decision to have a preventative mastectomy, instead of being told I was overreacting (which had been a common reaction from friends and family). Fast forward ten years and I am so proud to not only be an Ambassador for Pink Hope, but to see the incredible growth that the organisation has made. Knowledge is power, and Pink Hope gave me the power to take control of my health journey and I’m so glad they did.”
Wendy

“Pink Hope offers a wealth of knowledge and resources that no other organisation provides to help families navigate the complex world of being high risk for breast, ovarian and/or prostate cancer. Having access to support networks, genetic counsellors, education and evidence-based information has meant that my high-risk journey has been much easier to navigate. When you are high risk, you need to be your own health advocate as there isn't really a designated health professional to help you. So having the resources, tools, support and community that Pink Hope provides has been amazing.”
Robyn

“Pink Hope has been a lifeline for me over the past seven years. Navigating my way through the difficult, life-altering decisions that inevitably come with being high risk for breast and ovarian cancer, and then being diagnosed with ovarian cancer and undergoing cancer treatments, would have been so much more difficult without the amazingly supportive community and educational opportunities that Pink Hope fosters. Any resource that can assist Pink Hope support women navigate their way through situations like mine is a godsend.”

What the Experts Say

“Pink Hope has been an incredible resource for women throughout Australia. It offers evidence-based information and support to women dealing with hereditary breast and ovarian cancer. Pink Hope increases awareness about individual risk factors and offers a personalised support program. It’s a wonderful community assisting grandmothers, mothers, daughters and sisters to navigate the challenges of having a strong family history of breast or ovarian cancer.”
Clare John, McGrath Breast Care Nurse

“Pink Hope is a woman-focused organisation, offering support to women at risk of breast cancer and those currently fighting a cancer diagnosis in very vulnerable moments. Pink Hope partners with experts and breast cancer survivors, ensuring information sources are up to date and accurate, and giving women hope that there can be light on the other side of their diagnosis. I have been proud to support Pink Hope as an expert in fertility preservation advice, IVF and preconception genetic screening. It gives women hope to know their cancer risk and/or diagnosis does not mean abandoning dreams of family.”
Dr Raelia Lew, Fertility Specialist

“As a clinician who frequently meets women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer, I cannot endorse highly enough the outstanding work done by Pink Hope. This wonderful group of women do so much to assist, educate and support not only women living with breast cancer but also their families and those who have taken significant prophylactic actions to reduce their risk of disease. I am proud to have been associated with them.”
Dr Rod Baber, Clinical Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology

“There are few other organisations like Pink Hope in Australia that specifically support women with an inherited risk of breast and ovarian cancer. So many women who have participated in my research program talk about Pink Hope and the benefits they have experienced being part of the Pink Hope community, attending Pink Hope information sessions, being able to contact a genetic counsellor, and access so much information through the Pink Hope website.”
Dr Laura Forrest, Associate and Academic Genetic Counsellor

“As a specialist breast cancer surgeon, I recognise the importance of education and support for women who have to make important life changing surgical decisions which may impact on them both physically and emotionally. I also appreciate that a consultation with a surgeon does not always fully inform a woman of all of the issues that need to be addressed when considering major surgery. Pink Hope is a brilliant resource for women that assists them with their surgical decision making and is a great adjunct to the surgeon’s discussion with the patient. Surgical decisions particularly the decision to have preventative surgery should never be rushed. Patients need to be well educated and informed of the benefits and risks. Thank you to Pink Hope for helping make this process easier for women.”
